What Is Once Upon A Time Doing With Marvel?
By Nick Tylwalk
Something is going down, but we won’t find out exactly what it is until Friday. See, the official Twitter feed of the hit ABC show Once Upon a Time sent this out today:
No biggie, right? Just a teaser for a new storyline on everyone’s favorite fractured fairy tale show.
Except as people quickly noticed, there’s a Marvel logo in the bottom-left corner of that teaser image. And Marvel isn’t generally involved with the show, so …
Hypable has two theories, one of which is more intriguing than the other. The less exciting option is that there are going to be more Once Upon a Time tie-in comics, like the one Marvel did a few years ago.
Much more interesting would be if Asgard and some characters from the world of Thor got tangled up in the show somehow — and Hypable reminds us that Asgard has already been mentioned once before. Still, the Marvel Cinematic Universe view of Asgard owes more to sci-fi than mythology, so that seems like an unlikely pairing.
Allow me to throw out the completely bat guano-crazy alternative: a crossover with Agents of SHIELD. Think about it. Hydra gets its tentacles on a device that can either bring stories from books to life, or open portals to other worlds where fairy tales are real. Coulson and his team have to … okay, I’ll stop now.
Jokes aside, my gut tells me this is either going to be something huge or no big deal at all, with nothing in-between. We’ll see at the end of the week.
