First Look: New Superman Suit Revealed
By Steve Lam
Back in late October of 2014, fans became curious when DC broke the news that Superman was getting a new suit. Via Comic Vine, we now have a first look at Superman in his new suit, which is set to debut in Superman #38.
As you can see from the John Romita illustrated artwork, not much has changed from The New 52 version of the suit. However, keen-eyed fans can definitely spot some differences:
- The V-notch in the collar is gone
- Fingerless gloves
- Less lines overall
- A belt with a yellow oval buckle
- Boots with a V-notch that pay homage to the past designs of Superman’s suit
I’m still debating if I like this new suit. I was hoping for a more dramatic change. My original complaint stems from the suit being too busy (which they haven’t fixed much with the retention of some lines) and him having a red belt. I’ve gotten use to the absence of the trunks. What do you think?
Superman #38 was originally scheduled for a January 28, 2015 release, but has now been pushed out one week to February 4, 2015. The original solicitation for the issue teased new powers and a new suit:
