There have been a lot of examples throughout pop culture about how it’s usually not a good idea to mess with the timestream. Even the most well-meaning sorts usually end up screwing the proverbial pooch when it comes to changes to how the present and future should turn out. So if Hydra is doing the tinkering, that can only mean bad things, right? Right.
That’s exactly what’s going to go down in Avengers: Millennium, a new Infinite Comics digital offering that Marvel announced today and will be available later this month. Writer Mike Costa and artists Carmine Di Giandomenico and Geoffo & Mast are combining to tell a story about a secret Hydra base tucked away in rural Japan. Everyone’s favorite villainous organization has been using it for time-displacement experiments, and it sounds like Hydra may have already done enough damage to assure it will win in the end.
The Avengers will try to come to the rescue, but can they? Here’s how Marvel puts it:
"The Avengers, now stranded across the time stream, must leap through the eras to uncover the horrors of Hydra’s master plan. But how can they stop them from thousands of years in the past?Designed specifically for mobile devices, Marvel Infinite Comics showcase the storytelling possibilities of a digital canvas while still staying true to the mediums greatest strengths!"
To go with this relatively newfangled approach to comics, we’ve got a quick peek in GIF form below. All six issues of Avengers: Millennium will hit the Marvel Comics app and the Marvel Digital Comics Shop on February 24.
