Matrix To Marvel: Carrie-Anne Moss Joins A.K.A. Jessica Jones Cast

Add another familiar face to the cast of A.K.A. Jessica Jones.

More from TV

Marvel announced today that Carrie-Ann Moss, best known as Trinity in the Matrix movies but also seen in numerous movie and TV roles since the 90s, has signed on. The 47-year old Canadian is said to be playing “a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica … if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.” Some reports claim her character is named Harper, but the official announcement from Marvel made no mention of any name, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Without knowing that information, it’s tough to say if Moss is someone known to comics fans or not. Having her in a villainous role could be fun, especially since only David Tennant’s Kilgrave has been announced so far, but this sounds like it could be more of a neutral character in the battle against crime.

Moss certainly has a history of bringing both style and toughness to her roles, and Jeph Loeb made it sound like that will be the case here too:

"Carrie-Anne has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series."

All we really need now is a release date for A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which will follow Daredevil onto Netflix sometime in 2015. Krysten Ritter is starring in the title role, with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage expected to play a significant part as well.
