First Image Released Of The Atom Suit On Arrow
By Nick Tylwalk
We’ve seen Ray Palmer taking baby steps toward becoming a super hero on Arrow, and with some help from Felicity Smoak during last week’s episode, it’s time for him to pick up the pace. With that in mind, The CW released the first image of actor Brandon Routh as the Atom, or more precisely, in Palmer’s ATOM suit from the show.
It’s quite a different look than the Atom sports in the pages of DC Comics, but that should come as no surprise to any fans of Arrow. It’s been made clear all along that this is a powered exoskeleton, and it should have many more offensive capabilities than Palmer’s comics counterpart, as the miniaturization seems to be focused on weapons and not the man himself in the TV series.
Nevertheless, some design elements do call out Atom right away, including the blue and red color scheme and the logo on the helmet. Our first chance to see it in action won’t be for a couple more weeks: episode 15, which will air on February 25.
The CW has also let it slip that the Atom and Felicity will be visiting The Flash later this season, ostensibly for help with the suit from the science minds at S.T.A.R. Labs. That suggests it might not be an easy journey from businessman and inventor to super hero for Palmer, but then nothing ever is on Arrow.
Do you like the suit, or would you rather have seen something a little closer to Atom’s comic book look? Leave us a comment below and be heard.
