DC announced that Ventimiglia is joining the cast of Gotham as a serial killer named Jason Lennon, also known as the Ogre. The 37-year old actor will feature in “a major, multiple-episode recurring arc.”
Lennon is a character created specifically for the show, as the Ogre from the comics was a (very) minor villain named Michael Adams. He and his brother participated in experiments that would increase Michael’s strength and his brother’s intelligence, and the duo drew the attention of Batman after they murdered the scientists who worked on the project.
Ventimiglia’s Ogre sounds like he’ll give the pre-Batman Gotham City a lot more trouble. As for the actor himself, he’s no stranger to genre work, recently voicing Spider-Man Noir on the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. He also just wrapped up shooting the ABC series The Whispers, and since his Heroes character, Peter Petrelli, was a significant one, it’s logical to wonder if he’ll be included in NBC’s Heroes Reborn project later this year.
In the meantime, look for Ventimiglia to make his first appearance as the Ogre on episode 19 of Gotham.
