“Episode #121: Catfight” Opened this past Wednesday and it’s a cabaret inspired by the 1960s Batman TV show that starred Adam West and Burt Ward. It uses this setting to focus on themes of misogyny and gender roles from the mid-20th century.

Steven Koernig, co-wrote the show with playwright Tori Keenan-Zolt.

"People can instantly recognize these characters and their relationships, and so, from that, really think about the plot and enjoy the humor and the level of intricacy and layers that we put into it. I think that it’s something that you can connect to quickly and enjoy even more because of that."

Koernig and Keenan-Zelt based the cabaret on the 1960s Batman TV show because it was a personal favorite of theirs. They were interested in the challenge of depicting the show on stage, and decided to “amplify” it by exaggerating the misogynistic aspects of the show. Hugh Farrell one of the Cabaret’s three co-artistic directors said that the show provided a lighter contrasts to some previous shows that had a darker tone, and that Batman is very relatable to viewers because of his lack of superpowers. The show only runs through tomorrow, February 7th, so if you are interested and in the area, better catch it quick.
