Take heed, Firestorm fans, because he’s about to take center stage on The Flash.

The title of this week’s new episode, “The Nuclear Man,” should be a big clue on that score. But is Firestorm friend or foe, and why has he attacked a well-known scientist? Also, knowing what we know about the hero from the source material, are Barry Allen and his pals at S.T.A.R. Labs in for a bit of a surprise when they finally learn what happened to Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein? Because I kind of think they are.
Here’s the official synopsis for “The Nuclear Man” as presented by The CW:
"After Ronnie (guest star Robbie Amell) attacks a physicist (guest star Bill Dow), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team realize they need to go after Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé who is now a dangerous meta-human. They deduce the best way to track Ronnie is to find Dr. Martin Stein (guest star Victor Garber) who was working on a project called F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. Barry struggles to balance his duties as The Flash and his relationship with Linda Park (guest star Malese Jow), and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) enlists Cisco’s (Carlos Valdes) help to reinvestigate the murder of Nora Allen (guest star Michelle Harrison). General Eiling (Clancy Brown) returns to Central City. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Andrew Kreisberg & Katherine Walczak."
After the events of last week, Cisco Ramon surely knows that Ronnie and Dr. Stein have fused into one being, and that resulting composite person is actually Firestorm. In the comics, Firestorm is able to split back into his two hosts at will, so perhaps that’s what the S.T.A.R. Labs crew will eventually be able to figure out.
The wild card, as always, is Harrison Wells. If he’s helping Ronnie, it might ostensibly be to put Caitlin’s mid at ease and keep Firestorm from running amok, but you just know that he’s going to be looking to turn things to his own advantage.
Also, after last week’s brief glimpse, will we see more Grodd?
There should be plenty to chew on when The Flash airs at 8 pm this Tuesday on The CW. We’ll have a full recap right after the show, but you definitely don’t want to miss The Flash After Show this week from theStream.tv. Not only will the usual crew of Dylan Landon, Devon Stewart, Lauren Mayhew and Jack Hind break everything down as usual, they’ll also welcome Ronnie Raymond himself, Robbie Amell, to the show.
