Rumor: Name And Channel Change For Constantine?
By Nick Tylwalk
Constantine will soon be done, as its 13th episode will air this week, and NBC hasn’t ordered more or shown signs of asking for a second season. Does that mean John Constantine is one and done on TV?

Not necessarily, according to Cinelinx. That site quotes unnamed sources that reportedly tell it that NBC is considering moving the show to SyFy and renaming it Hellblazer after the comic book series that originally starred Constantine.
There’s no way to verify these possibilities, but both of them would make some sense. SyFy has been launching a wave of new scripted shows trying to shed its reputation for schlocky B-movie fare that it’s rightly earned over the past few years. Having Constantine in its lineup with a built-in fan base, even if it’s a small one by network TV standards, would help out a lot.
As for the name change, that would be a risk/reward type of deal. Under normal circumstances, it’s probably not a good idea, since you are potentially confusing viewers. But in this case, many of the fans of the show are likely well aware that the characters originated in the comic called Hellblazer, and it signifies to potential new viewers that the series could take an even darker turn. Plus that plan could be receiving some help from DC’s publishing arm, as the current ongoing comic series is set to be renamed Constantine: The Hellblazer when it relaunches in June.
So don’t give up hope yet, Constantine fans. If this rumor turns out to have even a kernel of truth, there’s still a chance everyone’s favorite mystical antihero isn’t ready to go quietly into cancellation. And if we know John, he definitely wouldn’t do that.
