Sif To Return For Second Agents Of SHIELD Appearance

Agents of SHIELD has dealt with a lot more things Inhuman than Asgardian in nature during its second season, but that doesn’t mean a certain female warrior from across the Rainbow Bridge can’t make a return appearance.

TV Insider reports that in the second episode after the show’s winter break, which will air on March 10, Lady Sif (played by Jaimie Alexander) will return to Agents of SHIELD. When we saw her in Season 1, she was pursuing the Asgardian villain Lorelei. This time, she’ll be on another mission, but in the course of chasing an unnamed super villain, she’s going to end up with a case of amnesia (though hopefully not explosive amnesia a la Futurama).

Executive producer Jeffrey Bell described the situation this way to TV Insider:

"Sif has no idea who Thor is or that she serves a king, and we’re going to have fun with that. It’ll give us some much-needed humor in a season that’s been full of betrayal and death. Sif can’t even recall who she came here from Asgard to stop, but Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] and his team will try to help her figure all that out."

Indeed, a slightly more lighthearted episode would be a nice change of pace, especially since the first episode back is likely to still be dealing heavily with the fallout from the transformation of Skye/Daisy and the death of Agent Triplett.

Bell also hinted that Coulson’s team might hit Sif up for some info on the Inhumans and Kree if they get her memories back in working order. That’s a logical move since the humans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are operating largely in the dark when it comes to some of this stuff, and with Asgard established in a more sci-fi set-up in the MCU, it would follow that Sif and her people have some knowledge of what’s going on in the rest of the galaxy.

In any case, it’ll be fun seeing Alexander back in the mix again. Agents of SHIELD returns with brand new episodes on Tuesday, March 3.
