Is Andrew Garfield OUT as Spider-Man?

Okay, so the odds are that you now know about the deal between Sony and Marvel allowing Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We know that Spider-Man will appear in a Marvel film (most likely Captain America: Civil War) before getting his own Marvel co-produced outing in 2017.

The big question is where does this leave the current Spider-Man actor? Recent reports linked to the Sony leaks have claimed that both Sony and Marvel were angling for a new actor to play Spider-Man, with Garfield upsetting Sony by not appearing at a corporate dinner they had planned. Garfield was also vocal about the studio interference in the second Amazing Spider-Man movie, as well as Sony’s refusal to make a Miles Morales film.

This is also despite what I consider to be overwhelming fan support to the contrary. We posited an article asking of Sony should replace Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and the majority of our readers who took part voted for Andrew Garfield to stay, in fact 91% out of 971 people voted in favour of Garfield keeping his red and blue costume!

With all of this in mind the majority of online news outlets are acting like Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man days are over and stating that new producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will be replacing Andrew as Spider-Man for the appearance in a Marvel Comic Film, before that actor then gets their solo film. However if you look at the official announcement there’s nothing to indicate this is the case

"Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films."

In that paragraph there is nothing stating that they will be looking to cast a new Spider-Man. So why is everyone treating it as a done deal? So far I see absolutely no proof other than a few negative words banded around in a few leaked emails that Andrew Garfield is being replaced. I concede that it’s very likely, given the circumstances, but I still don’t get it. Have I missed something?
