Gotham: Will Montoya Become The Question?
In the DC Comics world, Renee Montoya eventually wears the mantle of The Question, a vigilante who is an excellent investigator, but also thinks nearly everything is connected in a vast conspiracy. Recently, Victoria Cartagena, who plays Renee Montoya on Gotham, talked with CBR and teased the possibility of her character becoming The Question on the show.

"Because “Gotham” is an origin story, I think all the seeds are planted for all the characters. That’s what is so great about the writing. I really appreciate the fact that they are taking their time to develop and explore each character in depth. In the comics, there’s a moment that serves as a catalyst: she becomes an alcoholic and hits rock bottom. On the show, if Renee were to fall off the wagon again, it would force her to really look at herself and become more self-aware and become the person she’s meant to be. That being said, this show definitely has its own take on it, so you’ll have to wait and see what triggers her."
So it definitely sounds like the possibility is there for Renee Montoya to become The Question, assuming Gotham ran for enough seasons.
In another interview Cartagena had with The Hollywood Reporter, she also talked about her enthusiasm for her gay fanbase, who often tweet under the hashtag of #Gaytham:
"I love them so much. They’re so supportive, they get me excited about everything in the show. I’m a part of it because they allow me to be part of it, part of their community. I just so happen to play Renee. I care about their opinions, they suggest things I haven’t thought about, and provoke me to look deeper into the character. They help me more than they even know.I found that I was as excited as they are. It can be hard — I want to gossip and share my interpretation of something, but I can’t. I don’t want to spoil it for them. My go-to response when they ask about #Keatoya is, ‘Maybe — you’ll have to tune in to find out.’"
