It looks like Bobbi Morse will be sticking around for a while on Agents of SHIELD.

TVLine reports that Adrienne Palicki, who plays Agent Morse, has been upgraded to regular cast member for the second half of Season 2. Also known as the super hero Mockingbird in the pages of Marvel Comics, Morse joined the team in episode 5 after bailing Jemma Simmons out of a tight spot in her undercover work within Hydra.
The move could mean that the subplot involving Morse, Mack and a mysterious flash drive is going to be an important plot point going forward. Comics fans would be hard-pressed to suspect that Bobbi was going to betray Director Coulson, but things are a bit different on Agents of SHIELD, and Coulson’s fledgling version of the organization still has a long way to go to win back the trust it lost during the Hydra infiltration.
Another thought: a bigger role for Mockingbird could be a trial balloon for Marvel to see if it she could eventually be folded into the Avengers film franchise. It would be a logical move given her history with the team and with one Avenger in particular (that’d be Hawkeye, who she married and later divorced), and this might make for a good first step.
Morse and the rest of the Agents of SHIELD crew return from their lengthy winter break on Tuesday, March 3, with the new episode “Aftershocks.”
