The Flash Synopsis – Season 1, Episode 14: Fallout
By Nick Tylwalk
Since last week’s episode of The Flash ended with a nuclear explosion, this week’s new episode might have the most appropriate title in the series to date.

It appears that “Fallout” will pick up right where the previous chapter ended, in the aftermath of Firestorm’s near meltdown. What we know but our hero doesn’t is that the composite being made up of both Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein survived that blast, and that old adversary General Eiling is onto his existence.
Here’s where some comic book knowledge comes in handy, as even though Raymond and Stein were always able to split when they wanted to, they needed to merge to become Firestorm. The official synopsis for “Fallout” from The CW sounds like it might have most of the main cast of The Flash grappling with that reality:
"After the nuclear explosion separates Ronnie (guest star Robbie Amell) and Dr. Stein (guest star Victor Garber), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team believe both men are safe. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) is thrilled to have her fiancé back and prepares to resume their life together while Dr. Stein returns to his wife. However, when General Eiling (guest star Clancy Brown) targets Firestorm, Ronnie and Dr. Stein must decide if they are safer together or apart. Meanwhile, Mason Bridge (guest star Roger Hayworth) tells Iris (Candice Patton) that there is something secretive going on at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Stein gives Barry some important information about time travel. Steve Surjik directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Ben Sokolowski (#114)."
Even before seeing the episode, I can say that I love having Stein as the one who explains that time travel might be possible for the Flash. The writers have done a really nice job mixing the series’ various subplots together, much like Pied Piper had important information that helped uncover the truth about Ronnie, or the way Joe West asked Cisco Ramon with help in reopening the murder investigation.
We’re all set for “Fallout” Tuesday night at 8 pm on The CW, and we’ll have our weekly recap and review posted about 30 minutes after the episode airs on the East Coast. After you’re finished taking it all in, consider hopping over to The Flash After Show from theStream.tv, where hosts Dylan Landon, Devon Stewart, Lauren Mayhew and Jack Hind break down all the new developments.
