Sony/Marvel looking for a younger Spider-Man?
By Daniel Wood
With Andrew Garfield all-but out the door the majority of the Spider-Man corner of the internet are looking ahead at who they want to play the web-swinger in the next cinematic Spider-Man reboot. The front-runners at the moment seem to be Logan Lerman and Dylan O’Brien but who are Sony/Marvel actually looking for?
Well, actually it’s mainly just Sony that are looking as they reportedly have creative control and the final say in all Spider-Man related decisions. Anyway, The Hollywood Reporter has hinted that one of the big reasons they’re moving away from Garfield is that he’s too old and that the studio wants someone younger
"“And though Spider-Man will first appear in an unnamed Marvel movie, Sony and Pascal will have more influence over the actor cast in the iconic role because Sony retains final approval. The studio is currently looking for an actor much younger than 31-year-old Andrew Garfield, who most recently portrayed the superhero, as well as a writer for its reboot.”"
As you can see, they probably want someone young so that they can retain that actor as Spider-Man for quite some time, getting as many films out of them as possible before another reboot, or character-change is required. However campaigners for either Lerman or O’Brien will be happy as both of their choices fit the bill!
