Holy Flashback: Batman Ads
So, turns out being a billionaire doesn’t necessarily pay all the bills when your hobby is being an ultra high tech criminals. To help pay for things like batarangs and a repeatedly busted up batmobile, even Batman needs a little extra cash to keep his crimefighting going.

These Batman ads show the caped crusader (or in some cases, actor Michael Gough, who played his faithful servant Alfred in the 80s & 90s Batman films, inter-cut with movie clips of the Dark Knight) hawking Diet Coke and McDonalds. I definitely remember the Diet Coke ad, and have some of the glass collector’s cup from the Batman Forever tie-in, but I honestly don’t remember the “Superhero Burger”. Seems a little less heart attack-inducing than the Batman Burger you can get in Hong Kong nowadays though. Check out these flashback ad below:
We didn’t see much in the way of merchandising tie-ins during Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy days, will we see more of this type of advertising since Batman is now part of a bigger cinematic universe? I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ben Affleck touting the virtues of Subway is all I’m saying… h/t to Batman-online.om for the idea, check their FB page for more old school Batman TV spots!
