David Harewood, Chyler Leigh Added To Cast Of Supergirl
By Nick Tylwalk
Look out Supergirl: you’re going to be up against at least one character who is really bad news in the pages of DC comics.

The character in question is Hank Henshaw, one of two newly cast roles on CBS’ upcoming Supergirl series. Variety says David Harewood will play Henshaw, described as the head of “the Department of Extra-Normal Operation, which tracks extraterrestrial threats on the planet Earth.”
In print, Henshaw is better known as the Cyborg Superman, one of four beings who came forward in the wake of the “Death of Superman” saga that professed to be the real Superman. Driven crazy by an accident involving a spacecraft and cosmic radiation that led to the death of his wife and the other crew members (in a horrific twist on the origin of the Fantastic Four), Henshaw used Kryptonian technology to fashion himself a cyborg body. He was largely responsible for the destruction of Coast City and later ended up working with both the Manhunters and the Sinestro Corps despite a persistent death wish. Like I said, really bad news.
The other role announced today is a less menacing one, featuring Chyler Leigh playing Alex Danvers, the foster sister of Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl. Danvers will be a doctor and sounds like she’ll get along fine with the Girl of Steel, who’s being portrayed by Melissa Benoist.
Both roles are being described as series regulars, which makes sense considering CBS has placed a series order for Supergirl. The pilot is expected for the upcoming fall TV season, meaning we should be seeing Henshaw and Danvers before the end of 2015.
