#Donald4SpiderMan: Donald Glover weighs in on Marvel’s Spider-Man casting debate

There is a lot of talk that Marvel’s Spider-Man will not be white, which has caused quite the argument over Spider-Man based racism. But certain sources are indeed suggesting that the studio will instead opt for a black Spider-Man. Many people feel this means that a Miles Morales led Spider-Man movie is well on its way, and many people feel that only one man can, and should, play Miles Morales onscreen.

That person is rapper and ‘Community’ actor Donald Glover, sometimes known as Childish Gambino. Back when Sony’s first reboot, Amazing Spider-Man 2, was in the works a campaign stepped up for Donald Glover to be the new Spider-Man, there was a #Donald4SpiderMan Twitter hashtag and everything!

Of course the campaigning for Donald has started again, but what does the actor himself think about the whole thing? Well, in a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies the multi-talented Glover has this to say!

"“Of course, I would always be honored to play Spider-Man. But I just want the Spider-Man movie to be dope, that’s all I want.”"

He went on to add

"“I’m leaving it to them. Campaigning’s part of life, but for me, I’ve got a lot of stuff that I’m really excited about, and dropping it all… of course it’d be an honor. But it’s fine, if it comes, if not.”"

Fans of the Spider-Man cartoon ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ will already be familiar with Glover actually being Spider-Man as he was cast as Miles Morales for the recent third season, which seemed like a reward for all of the hard-work from the initial campaign. But I doubt they, or anyone, would be against Glover picking up the Spider-Man mantle in a live-action film!
