Fox Casts Tom Ellis In Lead Role In Lucifer
By Nick Tylwalk
I’m sure there’s a joke about giving the devil his due in here somewhere, but I’ll simply cut right to the chase. Fox has cast the lead role in its upcoming series Lucifer, based on the character from comics from DC’s Vertigo imprint.

Variety says that Tom Ellis will tackle the title role in Lucifer, which has a pilot order from Fox for the fall season. As we’ve mentioned before, the show will follow part of Lucifer’s print storyline that sees him abandon the throne of Hell to live in Los Angeles, but with the added (and somewhat worrying, in my opinion) twist of having him help the LAPD out in some manner and punish criminals.
If Ellis looks familiar, it could be due to you seeing him as the lead in the USA series Rush. The 36-year old Welsh actor has also appeared in several BBC series, including the popular soap opera EastEnders.
There’s been no word yet on other cast members or supporting characters for Lucifer, but with the main character settled and the pilot aiming for later this year, I’d expect to see some news on that front sooner rather than later.
