Marvel’s Spider-Man will possibly not be white?

Regardless of where you fall in the racism row surrounding Peter Parker being black or white, you definitely won’t be against Spider-Man being portrayed by someone of any ethnicity as Spider-Man is the typical everyman, who could be anyone underneath the mask!

And it literally looks like Marvel’s upcoming cinematic Spider-Man is definitely going to be different, and might become cinema’s first major black superhero! (Nick Fury, Falcon and War Machine don’t count, although welcome characters!)

The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider, who is a well-respected source when it comes to superhero scoops, recently said this to Meet the Movie Press. It’s worth mentioning that he starts by sayign ‘this is not set in stone’ so…

"“This is not set in stone guys, but I’m telling you right now, Spider-Man’s not going to be white. I am 95% sure. Spider-Man’s most likely going to be black. But there’s a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure, not white.”"

95% is a pretty high number so he seems fairly confident. He would then go on to add via Twitter

Sneider is quick to clarify that neither of these things are news, or confirmed as he didn’t mention them via The Wrap. So do not take anything a well respected film journalist says on his personal twitter or via a podcast as truth! Because it possibly isn’t. Got that?
