Spider-Verse continues into Secret Wars
By Daniel Wood
You didn’t really think the Spider-Verse was over did you? Sure Amazing Spider-Man #15 was the epilogue where we said farewell to several of the Spider-Men and Peter Parker returned to New York. That was all and good but we, the readers, know that Secret Wars is coming and that can only mean more displaced Spider-Men and Spider-Women in one place!
Which is exactly what we’re getting with the first entirely Spider-Man based Secret Wars spin-off, ‘Spider-Verse’. Spider-Verse is bringing together several of the Spider-Verse’s more spotlighted characters like Spider-Ham, Spider-UK, Spider-Man Noir, Mayday Parker (now Spider-Woman) and a few others! It is being written by Mike Costa (Scarlet Spiders, Snake Eyes – Agent of Cobra), illustrated by Andre Aruajo (Avengers A.I.), and features a cover by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverines)
Those of you that have read Amazing Spider-Man #15, which was the epilogue issue for the Spider-Verse storyline event will understand where this spin-off series is coming from, especially in terms of Spider-UK!
Spider-Verse writer Mike Costa has sat down with Nerdist to clarify some things about this new Secret Wars spin-off!
"Obviously this story takes place on Battleworld. But how it ties in to the larger context of Secret Wars is something of a spoiler. I can say, though, that you don’t need to read any of the other Secret Wars books to understand what’s going on in Spider-Verse. It’s a self-contained story that subtly connects and complements other elements in the larger tapestry. (Though I recommend you read those other books anyway because they are all awesome.)"
So there go folks, just when you thought that Spider-Verse was over, it appears that it has only just begun!
