EW Offers First Image Of Vincent D’Onofrio As Kingpin In Daredevil

I have absolutely no doubt that Vincent D’Onofrio is going to be a superb Wilson Fisk, the man also known as the Kingpin, on the Netflix Daredevil series. What I wasn’t as certain of is if he would look the part. It was just hard to picture the actor as big and bald.

No one should be worried, if the first image of D’Onofrio as the Marvel Comics villain is any indication. Entertainment Weekly got to show off the pic exclusively earlier today, and it checks all three boxes in my mind.

Bald? Check. Intimidating? Double check. Big? Well, not as big as some artists have drawn Fisk, where it looks like his head is way too tiny for his massive body, but big enough.

Also interesting is the way EW describes Fisk as a man willing to do anything to save Hell’s Kitchen:

"While Fisk truly believes he’s doing good for Hell’s Kitchen—and at times may seem more of a hero to its people than Daredevil—the complex and physically imposing Fisk is the perfect foil for Murdock."

Arrow fans probably perked up when they read that, as it makes Fisk’s methods and outlook sound very similar to Season 1 Malcolm Merlyn with his “Undertaking.”

The difference is that Fisk has been doing his thing in print for many more years, and the Daredevil writers no doubt know he’s got this stuff down to a science. We’ll get to see D’Onofrio’s Kingpin opposite Charlie Cox as Daredevil when the series hits Netflix on April 10.
