Spider-Man protestor faces prison!
By Daniel Wood
There’s something about people dressed as Spider-Man breaking the law that really gets my attention. Maybe it’s because I work for J. Jonah Jameson (in the fictional world) and he’s screaming in my ear to get a story up about the latest Spider-Man clad vagabond and he’s instructed me to ‘Pull no punches.’ So here we go!
As reported by the Bournemouth Echo Martin Cuff of Eldon Place, Bournemouth dressed as Spider-Man and brandished a banner reading ‘4 fathers there is no justice’ over the Cooper Dean flyover and then threatened to jump off. This resulted in a road closure of almost two and a half hours as police tried t resolve the situation.
A year later Cuff admitted to causing a public nuisance and is just one of a long line of people that have pulled a publicity stunt dressed like a superhero in the name of ‘Fathers 4 Justice’ a movement aimed at getting men more paternity rights when it comes to their children!
Personally this seems like a cause Spider-Man would get behind, but there’s no need to threaten to throw yourself off of a bridge, or close a busy road. There are legal forms of protest after all! (I told JJJ I’d pull no punches!) Nevertheless Cuff now faces a jail sentence, although he didn’t wear the Spidey suit to court!
