Who Is Getting Killed Off On Arrow?
By Nick Tylwalk
I don’t want to panic anyone, and it’s sometimes foolish to read too much into the tweets of actors. Sometimes they’re being cryptic on purpose, and other times they could just be messing with fans.
Still, the latter possibility doesn’t really seem like Stephen Amell’s style. So it caught the attention of many Arrow addicts when TV’s Oliver Queen tweeted this last night:
No worries. That could mean anything, right?
Very true … by itself, anyway. A few hours later, though, Colton Haynes, who plays Roy Harper/Arsenal, took to Twitter as well:
I don’t know about you, but that sounds like someone is getting killed off to me. For it to make that much of an impact on the men who play the two archers, I’m thinking it’s someone who’s been on the show from the beginning, or at least through Season 1. That leaves a few possibilities off the top of my head:
- Roy Harper – It could be that Haynes is referring to his own departure, though there hasn’t been any official word that he’s leaving the show. The way his storyline is trending in Season 3, it’s not impossible to see him giving his own life to save someone else — like, say, Thea Queen. Losing a partner would make Oliver experience a whole new type of self-doubt, and we know the Arrow writers love playing that card. I hope this isn’t the case, as Roy actually became someone worth rooting for this season.
- Thea Queen – Let’s see. Oliver’s dad died in Season 1 (in flashbacks, but still), his mother was killed in Season 2, why not go for the trifecta and have his sister meet the Reaper too? Slade’s recent words about how many people Oliver could lose before there’s nothing left could be some chilling foreshadowing for this, particularly since Thea was on the island with them at the time. Just a guess here, but that could turn Ollie and Malcolm Merlyn from reluctant allies back into sworn enemies as they blame each other for her passing. And she did give Nyssa al Ghul a free shot at her, so …
- John Diggle – I’ll be honest, this would really, really tick me off. If the writers play with our emotions by having Dig become a father and then have him ask Oliver to be his best man, then follow that by killing him? That would just be cruel. I don’t even want to think about this.
Maybe more tweets will clarify this, and it could mean that no one is getting killed off at all. Perhaps it’s just a longtime crew member leaving or something. I’ll simply say that it doesn’t look good.
