Rumor: Chris Pine To Play Green Lantern?

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set to kick off an honest to goodness movie version of the Justice League, the one traditional team member who’s been conspicuously absent from the Warner Bros./DC film mix is Green Lantern. It could be a designed plan to put the Ryan Reynolds film further in the past, but it might also simply be due to not finding the correct man to wear the ring.

That might change soon. Ace super hero scooper Umberto Gonzalez of the Latino Review has his sources telling him a name, and it’s someone we’ve already seen in a popular film series in a major role:

While Gonzalez is direct in saying it’s only a rumor, is it really that big a leap from James T. Kirk to Hal Jordan? Both men follow their guts rather than the rules (Federation or Guardians), and they’re both brash, virtually fearless and popular with the ladies — even of the alien variety.

Dawn of Justice is done filming, so even if Warner Bros. cast Pine tomorrow, he wouldn’t have a large role in that movie. But a mid-credits or post-credits scene is definitely doable, especially since there’s a whole year to get it done.

Just a thought, but it would be a real big treat for DC Comics fans to see Ezra Miller (as Barry Allen) and Pine show up for a cameo after the credits have rolled, setting the stage for a seven-person Justice League.
