Want To Help DC Break A World Record For Most People Dressed As Super Heroes?
By Nick Tylwalk
I know what you’re thinking. Surely, something like New York Comic Con has the most people dressed like super heroes at one time, right?
Only we’re not talking about just in one place here. DC is making a coordinated effort to break the official world record for the most people dressed like super heroes at one time on April 18. For the purposes of going after the record (I assume set down by the folks at Guinness World Records), paticipants must be in “full, head-to-toe representation of that superhero. Partial costumes or just t-shirts will NOT be accepted.” On the plus side, both homemade and licensed costumes are valid, so dedicated cosplayers and people who just run to the store can all join in.
One location isn’t enough to go after a record like this, so DC is organizing gatherings in 15 different cities around the world:
- Los Angeles
- Birmingham, Cardiff, London and Warrington in the UK
- Lille, Lyon and Paris, France
- Kaohsiung, Taiwan
- Madrid
- Manila
- Mexico City
- Queensland, Australia (at Movie World Australia)
- Rome
- Sao Paulo, Brazil
(Only one location in the US, and none on the East Coast? Hmm …)
To count toward the record, you only need to be in one of these places at the appointed times and stay put for five straight minutes, so you don’t need to give up your whole day. Check out the official event Facebook page for more detailed times and location information, and get ready to be part of history.
