Get to Know Your Con: Planet Comic-Con + Photos!
By Skip Harvey
Hey there, Batman fans! In this segment we began a year ago, I gave you the rundown on comic conventions all around the country. Well, it’s time for the cycle to begin again, so let’s pick up where we started last year, with Planet Comic-Con in Kansas City!
Conventions and festivals have never been bigger than they are today, but they’re about more than just celebrating subculture or rubbing elbows with celebrities from Pop culture. They’re a place where those of us who were marginalized in our lives for simply having passion for the things that define us can be proud of who we are. If you’ve never been to a comic-con or you’re thinking about attending new ones, this guide will give you a peek as to where and what to expect throughout Con Season!
Planet ComicCon – as it’s been known since 1999 – spent several years in the Overland Park International Trade Center. Due to its exploding popularity, Planet has moved back downtown to the Kansas City Convention Center-Bartle Hall. Notably, the edition from 2 years ago was featured in the SyFy Channel reality show Heroes of Cosplay. The event seems to be growing by leaps and bounds every year and this time around boasts some impressive attractions.
This year’s Planet was a pretty epic event in downtown KC again this year. Check out some of the great Batman sites from the floor of the convention!
