Except it’s never really all good in the world of Arrow, as you should know by now. This week’s new episode is called “Suicidal Tendencies,” and you shouldn’t need more than one guess to figure out why. Could Diggly and Lyla’s honeymoon involve doing dangerous things alongside the Suicide Squad? It just might.
Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:
"It’s celebration time as Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) get married. However, Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe) interrupts their honeymoon and tells them the Suicide Squad has been given a new mission – rescue United States Senator Joseph Cray (guest star Steven Culp) from a hostage situation in the Republic of Kasnia. Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) breaks down the mission and introduces them to the newest member of the Suicide Squad, Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick). Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) learns about Ray’s new Atom costume and the two have a heated stand-off. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Ray hit a rough patch. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu (#317)."
A super hero showdown! Those are always fun.
This week’s fun comic book note: Senator Cray is a real character from DC Comics, where he blackmails Amanda Waller until he is eventually killed by Deadshot. His son, Adam Cray, becomes the Atom for a time and assists the Suicide Squad while Ray Palmer is undercover on a mission of his own. I don’t expect that to all play out on Arrow, but it’s interesting to note the links between all those different characters on the show.
On a completely different note, the #Olicity crowd should be pretty happy that Felicity and Ray have a falling out, though my guess it will take unitl the end of this season for her to have to make up ger mind between Oliver and Ray. The showdown between those guys should be fun, and we know from the crossover with The Flash that just having powers doesn’t mean you can take out the Arrow.
Tune in for this mix of celebration and action Wednesday at 8 pm on The CW, and check back in with us after the show for a full recap.
