X-Men: Apocalypse Casts Fresh Face As Jubilee
By Nick Tylwalk
In this day and age, if you don’t have a Wikipedia entry, chances are you’re pretty new to acting.
Such is the case with the actress named to play Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse today. Director Bryan Singer took to Instagram to make the announcement:
"I’d officially like to welcome our newest mutant#JubilationLee, #Jubilee @LanaCondor to #XMEN#Apocalypse"
Sho who is Condor? She’s got no Wikipedia entry, and her iMDB page is blank so far. She does have a resume page provided by her representation. That meets my definition of a newcomer in this part of the 21st century.
As for Jubilee, she’s a Chinese American mutant who made her first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #244 in 1989. She originally had the power to shooot brightly colored energy bursts from her fingers that she called fireworks, and while she later lost those powers during the M-Day event, she got some new ones after being bitten by the son of Dracula and turned into a vampire. Yes, really.
We’ll assume that Condor will be playing the street-smart, gymnastically gifted version of Jubilee from her earlier appearances. X-Men: Apocalypse is supposed to begin filming next month as it targets a May 27, 2016 release.
