Erin Richards Talks Gotham

Erin Richards plays Barbara Keane, future Mrs. Gordon and future mother of Batgirl/Oracle on the hit TV show Gotham. Though Barbara & James are certainly on the outs right now, Erin Richards talked with Hollywood Life about their eventual reunion and the freedom the writers have with Barbara Keane.

"I think she’ll probably eventually circle back because she marries him in the end, supposedly, in the comics. So I guess down the line she might. Right now she’s on a much more interesting path in that she’s going much darker, which is really fun for me.The great thing with Barbara is there’s no sort of expectation with her, the character’s less well-known. Our creator gets to play with her a bit more, she can go on more of a journey than the other characters. They’re more restrained by the lore, the comics."

No disrespect to Erin Richards, who is a fine actress, but Barbara Keane is probably the most poorly written and insufferable character on Gotham. It’s true that she eventually marries Jim Gordon, but where she is at right now, it’s hard to see any sort of reconciliation, especially if she goes down a darker path. We’ll have to see how that all starts when Gotham returns on April 13th!
