14. The Avengers – “We have a Hulk.”

By the time we reach the third act of The Avengers, Loki is pretty clearly feeling himself. Even though he knows Tony Stark is likely stalling for time when they have a conversation inside Stark Tower, he’s not too concerned, because he honestly doesn’t think there’s any chance he won’t get what he wants.

Leave it to Tony to explain exactly how wrong he is. In the opinion of the “genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist,” the mistake that Loki made was to get all of the Earth’s super heroes angry at him at once. Rather than discourage them, it’s going to galvanize them, or so Stark says.

Loki still doesn’t find that argument convincing, since he’s got an army of Chitauri at his command. Tony’s response is beautiful (and perfectly delivered by Robert Downey Jr.): “We have a Hulk.”

It’s hard to win an argument when the person on the other side has just pointed that out. Tony ends up getting tossed out the window for his trouble, but since he’s proven right in the end, it’s all good.

Bonus points to this scene due to the fact that Loki was responsible for the creation of the Avengers in the comics as well, so this one really resonates with longtime fans.
