In “Enigma”, Cory Michael Smith, who plays Edward Nygma on Gotham discusses how Nygma has gotten darker and realized he doesn’t really have any friends at the GCPD, but at the same time, that leads him to trust his own instincts more. Unfortunately we all know those instincts lead him down a dark path to becoming the evil villainous mastermind known as The Riddler, which it definitely appears his obsession with a certain Mrs. Kringle will factor heavily into. It’s been said that each season of Gotham will focus on a particular villain, Penguin is obviously the focus in the first season, and the groundwork has certainly been laid for Edward Nygma to be the focus of season two if that is the case. What will happen to specifically make him turn towards evil? You’ll have to watch the last few episodes of season one of Gotham to find out when it comes back from hiatus on April 13th!
