Remember when I said the Legion of Super-Heroes’ tale got a little complicated at times? This is one of them.

See, the main Legion book had taken a dark and gritty turn after the Earth was taken over by the Dominators. The answer to lightening things up was to introduce a clone version of most of the Legionnaires, from younger and happier times.

In some foreshadowing of what Marvel was originally going to do with Spider-Man and the “Clone Saga,” the plan was supposedly to reveal that the SW6 Legion (named after the code for this particular batch of clones) were the real deals while their darker, grown-up counterparts were made the fakes. That didn’t happen, but the young clones did get their own ongoing series.

Oh, and the Earth got destroyed.

Even if you didn’t follow all of that, all you need to know is that this is a younger, more idealistic version of what the Legion had become, and from a period that was eventually wiped out by Infinite Crisis. It’s nice to see these kids back again.
