Cobie Smulders Confirms Maria Hill Is “Coming Up” On Agents of SHIELD
By Nick Tylwalk
Now that SHIELD has fractured into two factions on Agents of SHIELD, there are a couple characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that you’d think would want to put in their two cents on the future of everyone’s favorite spy organization. One is Nick Fury, who could end all the drama pretty quickly. Another is Maria Hill, who we’ve seen on the series before, and apparently will again before too long.

That word comes from the woman who plays her, Cobie Smulders. Appearing this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote both Avengers: Age of Ultron and her (topless) appearance on the cover of Women’s Health magazine, Smulders was asked by the host if the breakup of SHIELD means we wouldn’t be seeing her on the show going forward.
As you can see in the video below, that’s not the case.
I’ll take “coming up” to be synonymous with “before the end of the season.” Marvel and ABC have been pretty open about the fact that the events of Age of Ultron will have an effect on the series, just as other Marvel movies have. The film comes out on May 1, right before sweeps, and having Maria show up would be good for ratings, so … Just connecting the dots there suggests that we’ll see her in one of the last few episodes of Season 2.
A bigger question will be whether there’s anything left of her former employer at that point. Just a hunch, but I think after Ultron runs rampant with killer robots, the public might be ready to trust in SHIELD again. Keep your eyes peeled for Ms. Smulders to find out.
