It was all smiles and partying with the Ewoks and spirits of dead Jedi at the end of Return of the Jedi, if memory serves. That story will be told beginning in Star Wars: Journey to The Force Awakens – Shattered EmpireContinuing its dedication to putting top notch talent on its Star Wars books, Marvel has tapped writer Greg Rucka and artist Marco Checchetto for this one, which will be an important part of the new Lucasfilm canon leading up to the movie that has everyone buzzing right now.

“The world has been wondering what happened after the fall of the Empire since the credits first rolled on Return of the Jedi in 1983,” series editor Jordan D. White said in a press release. “Now, on the dawn of the next chapter of the saga, we’re incredibly proud to be involved in revealing the events that happen immediately following the end of Return of the Jedi!”

With The Force Awakens opening in theaters in December, Shattered Empire is shaping up to be as essential part of your preparation as you get ready to head back to a galaxy far, far away. Look for issue #1 to go on sale in September, and expect us to get you a sneak peek as soon as one becomes available.
