Report: Bobbi Morse, Lance Hunter Focus Of Agents Of SHIELD Spinoff

The Bobbi and Lance Show? How about the Mockingbird and Hunter Power Hour? Okay. those are admittedly horrible suggestions for a spinoff from Agents of SHIELD, but Marvel and ABC are likely thinking about what to call a series starring Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter right now.

At least they are if Deadline is correct. Sources cited there say that Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are close to signing to become the stars of the spinoff, which sounds like it would air between halves of the third season of Agents of SHIELD. That’s assuming a couple different things, namely that Agents of SHIELD actually gets renewed for next year, and that Agent Carter, which is said to be close to renewal, get used in a different fashion.

It’d be a bit of a bummer for fans hoping Mockingbird and Hawkeye might get together like they did in the comics, but the off-again, on-again dynamic between Morse and Hunter has been entertaining to watch. Presumably, we don’t have to worry about either one of them getting killed off before the end of the current season … unless, of course, the show is a flashback to their earlier adventures together when they were still married.

None of the Marvel shows have really set the world on fire from a ratings perspective, so it’s kind of surprising ABC — which says it’s free to do what it wants regarding approving and renewing those series, with no pressure from parent company Disney — would want to double down on the Agents of SHIELD brand. It’s getting harder to clear enough time in your week for all of the super hero/comic book shows out there, but you better plan on reserving another hour for this one, just in case.
