DC Superhero Girls is aimed at 6-12 year-old girls. Each character has her own storyline that explores what teen life is like as a superheo/villain.

Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment had this to say about the new DC Super Hero Girls launch:

"DC Entertainment is home to the most iconic and well-known Super Heroes including Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl. DC Super Hero Girls represents the embodiment of our long-term strategy to harness the power of our diverse female characters. I am so pleased that we are able to offer relatable and strong role models in a unique way, just for girls."

DC Super Hero Girls won’t just be a line of action figures. There will be original digital content and digital publishing starting this Fall. TV specials, made-for-videos, toys, apparel, books, etc will be coming out in 2016 as well.

It’s well past time someone realized that young girls are an untapped and criminally ignored audience in comics. My wife is a far bigger comic book geek than I am, has been since she could read, and there was never a lot of things geared towards girls in the world of comics when she was younger.
