Avengers: Age of Ultron stars had no idea Spider-Man was coming
By Daniel Wood
Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans who play Hawkeye and Captain America respectively in Avengers: Age of Ultron recently sat down for an interview with Digital Spy where they discussed Black Widow, whether or not Evans would hang up the shield and, of course, Spider-Man entering the MCU.
Now, all of the headlines from this interview are understandably surrounding the derrogatory remarks the pair made when joking about Scarlet Johansson’s character Black Widow, and how she seems to have paired off with every male member of the Avengers: Age of Ultron cast.
It’s all very interesting, and Renner and Evans have issued statements apologising and everything but we’re a Spider-Man website so I want to talk about Spider-Man. The pair were asked by the interviewer “Spider-Man is rejoining the Marvel Universe is that something that you guys knew was sort of in the ether?” leading to Renner nodding and agreeing as Evans replied,
"“No, not really, that was a surprise for me”"
Evans then added
"It was great, given the studio crossover I thought it’d be a tall order, but Marvel pulled it off”"
