Continuing our daily Avengers: Age of Ultron Primer, we bring you a quick rundown of Scarlet Witch. The twin sister of speedster Pietro Maximoff, a.k.a. Quicksilver, Wanda Maximoff is a powerful mutant “miracle” in her own right.
The introduction of Scarlet Witch into the franchise also leads to the inevitable freshening up of the Avengers roster. With some unknown grey-area loyalties seen in the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, Scarlet Witch’s transition into an Avenger will also be a focus of the film.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, was introduced in X-Men #4 (March 1964) along with her brother Peter Maximoff, a.k.a. Quicksilver. Originally introduced as a villain in the comics, readers soon saw her change sides and become a heroine.
