Arrow Synopsis – Season 3, Episode 21: Al Sah-him

You know, it’s a good thing the Arrow gathered a team around him over the last few seasons, because otherwise, there would be no one left to save his city.

I mean, Oliver Queen has finally bowed to the will of Ra’s al Ghul, and is going through the necessary steps to take over the League of Assassins — including a name change, I’m guessing, or this week’s new episode wouldn’t be called “Al Sah-him.” Roy Harper, a.k.a. Arsenal, is gone from Starling City as well.

That leaves stalwarts John Diggle and Felicity Smoak and relative newcomer Black Canary to fill the Arrow’s boots, but what if they end up pitted against their friend and former teammate? That might be exactly what happens on Arrow this week, at least if I’m reading the official synopsis from The CW correctly.

To wit:

"Oliver (Stephen Amell) goes through a rigorous transformation. The League of Assassins sets their sites on Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law), who is back in Starling City training Laurel (Katie Cassidy). When Nyssa realizes they are coming, she arms up to face them alone but Laurel asks Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (David Ramsey) to help protect her new friend."

The other members of Team Arrow have become slightly better at fighting the League’s normal ninjas, who in previous seasons were depicted as almost unbeatable. Still, you have to think with Ollie leading them into battle, if that is indeed what we’re about to see, they’re going to be a little more difficult to defeat.

Also, while I understand exactly why the main focus of this season’s stretch run is what it is, shouldn’t somebody be trying to take advantage of the chaos among the heroes of Starling City. Criminals, have you lost your nerve?

Ah well, at least you can’t say that Arrow used a “Villain of the Week” formula much in Season 3 (nor did The Flash in the back half of its debut season, for that matter), and that is admirable. We’ll see exactly what new twists await with very few episodes left before the finale, beginning with “Al Sah-him” on Wednesday night at 8 pm on The CW. Our recap will be live 20-30 minutes after the East Coast showing ends.

After that, we’ll be checking out the Arrow After Show on theStream.tv, which you can watch right here with the video player below as well. Medina and be sure to tweet them questions with the hashtag #ArrowAfterShow for a chance at getting your questions included in the discussion.
