Asa Butterfield is practically the next Spider-Man?

Remember that list of five actors that surfaced last week with reports suggesting that they were the frontrunners for Marvel’s Spider-Man role. Well, now even more reports suggest that there’s a clear frontrunner amongst the frontrunners! Ender’s Game’s Asa Butterfield.

Move over Nat Wolff, Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland and Liam James, move over Dylan O’Brien and Logan Lerman. In fact move over everybody ever because the role is Asa Butterfield’s to lose according to the Latino Review’s source that states ‘Marvel have liked him since day one’

Obviously Marvel haven’t commented and neither have Asa Butterfield’s reps, or the actor himself. But anyone that’s seen Ender’s Game, a film about a very smart kid using his brains and wits to overcome great odds and physically stronger opponents, would probably agree that at the very least, he’d make a semi-decent Spider-Man

Unfortunately that’s it. That’s the article. I know there’s hardly anything to this news is there. It’s almost like the whole thing’s just a tiny rumour that’s been blown out of proportion isn’t it? Let’s not forget that it wasn’t so long ago that Latino Review told us that the film would be called Spectacular Spider-Man and that Drew Goddard would be directing it. So their track record speaks for itself.
