Is ‘Spider-Man: The New Avenger’ Marvel’s Spider-Man title?

You’d be forgiven for not trusting any news regarding the name of Marvel’s upcoming 2017 Spider-Man movie after we’ve already seen one rumour suggest it’ll be called ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’ and another rumour stating it’ll be called simply ‘The Spider-Man’ and now we’ve got another name to add to the pile!

Except this leak came from none other than Umberto Gonzalez, formerly of the Latino Review, who has a history of breaking big comic book movie scoops that usually more often than not turn out to be accurate. Gonzalez took to Instagram to break the news of Spider-Man: The New Avenger

"RT! #UNCONFIRMED #RUMOR Take with the tiniest grain of salt pending further confirmation. I’m being told the working title for the untitled SPIDER-MAN stand alone film is SPIDER-MAN:THE NEW AVENGER Again, it’s Sunday so take with grain pending further confirmation. What do you think of title? #Spiderman"

As you can see even he’s playing his cards fairly close to his chest on this one using the phrase ‘grain of salt’ twice. So you should definitely take his advice and approach this new title with at least two grains of salt, if not more!

However, this is more than likely true because ‘working titles’ don’t often go on to be the actual title of the film. Just look at ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ which suddenly became the less subtle ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies’. Either way I quite like Spider-Man: The New Avenger as a title. What do you guys think?
