Know Your Avengers: When Every Marvel Hero First Joined The Team

Avengers assemble! In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even with the new additions during Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s not that difficult to actually gather the whole team. You can fit everyone around a large table for a meeting pretty easily.

In the comics, it’s a slightly different story. Okay, a much different story, mostly due to the fact that just about every Marvel super hero worth his or her salt can claim to be a member of Earths Mightiest Heroes. That goes for stalwarts like Iron Man, Captain America and Thor to heroes typically thought of as loners like Spider-Man and Daredevil to obscure crime-fighters like Gilgamesh and 3-D Man.

More recent times have seen the number of Avengers really explode since there have been multiple teams running around with some claim to the name. That’s really swelled the ranks, even if you discount “honorary” Avengers like Rick Jones or the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thanks to Marvel’s recent Avengers Magazine, released for free to promote team history leading up to Age of Ultron, helps make sense of it all by determining when every Avenger first joined the team.
