The Flash Synopsis – Season 1, Episode 21: Grodd Lives

While Dr. Harrison Wells … excuse me, Eobard Thawne in the body of Wells, has been exercising his complicated plot of revenge against Barry Allen all season long on The Flash, he’s also been keeping an ace up his sleeve the whole time. It’s a hairy, powerful ace at that.

Now that Allen and his friends have figured out Thawne’s game, it’s time to play that card. This week’s episode is called “Grodd Lives,” so you know the iconic Flash foe, who we’ve only seen in brief bursts so far, is going to take center stage. The results may not be good, especially for one person close to Barry.

Here’s the official synopsis for “Grodd Lives” from The CW:

"Barry (Grant Gustin) must deal with the Reverse Flash’s (Tom Cavanagh) latest threat to a member of the group. To make matter worse, Dr. Wells unleashes Grodd on the city in order to distract Barry and the team. Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Barry and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) head down into the sewers to catch Grodd but the gorilla quickly gets the upper hand after he kidnaps Joe. Iris (Candice Patton) and Barry have a heart to heart talk. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Kai Yu Wu (#121)."

It should be a lot of fun seeing how Reverse-Flash keeps Flash and company busy while he sets whatever his endgame is into motion. I found it interesting that the villain told Flash at the end of last week’s episode that he has no intention of killing the hero yet — which makes sense since he presumably still needs Barry’s help to return to his own time — but that they would be confronting each other again soon.

Striking through Barry’s loved ones would be the way to go, then, but I hope it’s not Iris West in the crosshairs. We’ve seen that enough already.

With just three episodes of The Flash left in its debut season, you won’t want to miss “Grodd Lives” when it airs Tuesday at 8 pm on The CW. Speed back here for our recap and review roughly 20 minutes after the episode, unless you’re busy watching The Flash After Show on theStream.tv.
