Agents Of SHIELD Synopsis – Season 2, Episode 20: Scars
By Nick Tylwalk
Did you enjoy the way last week’s episode of Agents of SHIELD led right into the opening scene of Avengers: Age of Ultron? And I mean right into it, considering that Phil Coulson said it was time to call in the Avengers, and all of a sudden, wham, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are attacking a Hydra base.

It doesn’t look like events from the film will flow right back into TV, which might be for the best since Coulson’s crew has its hands full with their own problems. Not only are things still unresolved with the “real SHIELD,” but issues regarding the Inhumans are heating up as well. I get the feeling that Skye is going to have to make a difficult choice before the season is out.
Oh, hey, maybe that’ll actually happen this week. At least the official synopsis of “Scars” makes it seem that way. Take a look:
"Skye is torn between her loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D. and her connection to the Inhumans as tensions rise between the groups — and Coulson reveals a secret he’s been hiding from even those closest to him."
Ah, Coulson and his secrets. So, a bigger secret than how he was brought back to life, eh? And presumably not just the idea that he’s supposed to be recruiting “enhanced” people to help SHIELD, because we sort of already know that. Is this the Theta Protocol that’s been mentioned the past few weeks?
Sorry, all I’ve got is questions, no answers. For those, you’ll have to do what I’m going to do and tune in to watch “Scars” at 9 pm Tuesday on ABC. Christina Roberts will offer her full recap and review on Wednesday morning, plus we’ll be hopping over to take in the Agents of SHIELD After Show from our friends at theStream.tv. Hosts Germar Derron, Stephanie Pressman, Anastasia Washington and Christian G. Lopez will be your guides to all things SHIELD, and they’ll even work in some viewer questions if you use the hashtag #AOSOS on Twitter.
