DC Bombshells Decals: Pretty, But …

facebooktwitterreddit

DC Comics has been working with their Bombshell line of collectibles since 2013 when they released the Wonder Woman statue. Several fan favorites would follow, including Supergirl, Catwoman, and my personal favorite, Hawkwoman. The hook, if you are not familiar, is that each of the characters are done in a 1940’s pinup style, and they look great.

Since the initial release of the statues, DC has built on their popularity to branch off into clothing and bags, mugs, cell phone cases and of course, posters and calendars. Last week, we saw a release of a set of window decals based on the more popular characters: Black Canary, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman. And much like the other offerings, these decals look spot on.

My one complaint is that they are too small. Once you peel the decal off and apply it, much of the attraction of the decals has been diminished. I would love to see them about four times larger. Now if you were to keep the decal on the board, it continues to look great. Maybe frame it? In any event, as big a fan as I am of the DC Bombshells line of products, the decals, while keeping with the the theme, seem to be stretching the marketing limits of this wonderful idea.
