Supergirl Crossovers With Arrow, The Flash Unlikely … For Now
By Nick Tylwalk
We comic book fans aren’t known for our patience, or simply sitting back and waiting for things to happen. For example, Supergirl isn’t even going to be on the air in her own CBS series until November, and we already want to know when we’ll see her teaming up with the heroes from Arrow or The Flash. And frankly, it really doesn’t help when Variety runs a cover story with the image above, picturing super producer Greg Berlanti between Grant Gustin (the Flash himself) and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl).

Unfortunately, it appears this cover is the only place we’ll be seeing the two heroes together in the near future. Berlanti doesn’t appear to think there’s much chance of Supergirl showing up in the Arrow-verse this season, and he suggested to Variety that CBS is the reason why.
"The network has said publicly at this point they’re going to keep her to themselves. I always approach the shows as a fan first, so I would love to see (a crossover). I think in success, all things are possible. But there’s a lot that would have to happen before everybody might say yes to that."
It’s completely understandable that CBS would want to keep the Girl of Steel to itself, especially since the network is late to the super hero party. This doesn’t mean it’ll never happen, just that we might have to be patient, even if it goes against our nature.
If there’s a silver lining, it’s the one that IGN found when pointing out that CBS owns part of The CW, making the logistical parts of a multi-network crossover at least theoretically simpler. My guess is it we’ll see Supergirl, Flash and Green Arrow together, but not for another season or two. In other words, plenty of time for Berlanti and his team to think up a threat that’s formidable enough to require such a team-up.
