We All Didn’t See That Coming … Nor the Tears
With the final rescue craft loaded up with the remaining civilians, Hawkeye hears the cries of a mother for her son. He looks into the distance and sees a young boy crouched near a building, too afraid to leave.
Hawkeye, being a father himself, runs towards the boy. As he picks the boy up to carry him to safety, Ultron, piloting a Quinjet, lets out a barrage of gunfire. Hawkeye, knowing that there’s no way out, seemingly accepts his fate. However, Quicksilver super-speeds in and carries both Hawkeye and the boy to safety. The rescue is not without sacrifice though because Quicksilver is shot in the process. His last words of “you didn’t see that coming” are endearing and come full circle from his original taunts to Hawkeye.
