Review: DC Collectibles Gotham GCPD Badge
“I deserve a mute supermodel who likes pasty Irish guys and loves to cook.”
Capitalizing on the success of Fox’s primetime crime drama, Gotham, DC Collectibles recently released an new addition to its “lifestyle” category (read: role-playing), a Gotham City Police Department badge.
A 1:1 scale replica of the actual prop used on the show, the GCPD Badge is a must have for any fan of Jim Gordon and company. And who doesn’t want to be like Jim Gordon, anyway?!? Besides me, that is. I fancy myself more of the snarky-Bullock type. Go figure.
The badge is packaged in a nice jewelry-type box, covered with a black sleeve with an understated “Gotham” embossed on the front. The packaging is more akin something you find containing a decent bottle of cologne, as opposed to a replica badge. That’s the kind of effort DC Collectibles is putting into not only it’s products, but packaging as well.
The badge is pinned to a nice black leather holder that measures 3.75 inches. On the back side of the holder is a metal clip; you can be cool and clip it to your belt or not so cool and clip it to your suit jacket.
As for the badge itself … it’s chrome-plated and emblazoned with the Gotham City Police Department crest. The badge reads “Gotham City Police Department” and “Founded 1820.” It’s also removable from the leather holder. The flaps of the holder are joined together with a piece of what feels like, industrial strength Velcro. Once you get them apart, though, you can unpin the badge and re-pin it where ever you feel necessary.
The Gotham City Police Badge retails for $29.99 and is available online (or at your local comic shop) right now. And you know you want to walk around your house, holding that badge up high and say, “GCPD! Freeze!” I’m not saying I did, but … I’m not saying I didn’t either.
Many thanks to our friends at DC Collectibles for providing the sample to review.
