Though the ratings alone didn’t make it a slam dunk, most fans felt pretty comfortable with the idea that Agents of SHIELD would be back for a third season. Thanks to Marvel, we now know exactly when it will be kicking off.

As announced on Marvel.com, the Agents of SHIELD Season 3 premiere date will be Tuesday, September 29. All that’s been revealed so far about the upcoming campaign is this short tease:
"Following the game-changing events of the Season 2 finale, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Agent May (Ming-Na Wen), Skye (Chloe Bennet), Lincoln (Luke Mitchell), Mack (Henry Simmons) and the rest of your favorite Agents return with their biggest challenges yet."
That’s, um, pretty vague. We do know that Ward is going to continue to be a thorn in the side of Coulson’s crew, as he was last seen putting together his own version of Hydra. Skye has a new directive as well, as she was tasked by Coulson with assembling a team of powered operatives.
Agents of SHIELD will also have its biggest main cast ever. Not only are Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) sticking around as series regulars, but both the Inhuman known as Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) and Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie (Henry Simmons) got promoted as well. With all six originals also returning — assuming Jemma Simmons is relatively okay after her season finale fate — there should be no shortage of subplots spread among the characters.
Tuesdays at 9 pm will once again be the regular night and time for Agents of SHIELD on ABC. Expect it to take a lengthy midseason break once again, as Agent Carter was renewed for a second season of episodes to run in that slot in early 2016.
